The Illinois State Board of
Education, in partnership with the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) and
the Illinois Student Assistance
Commission (ISAC), today launched an
interactive online career exploration tool to help
high school students make informed decisions about life
after high school. Illinois High School 2 Career empowers
students to explore an array of degrees and
certifications, salaries, job stability, and the industries that
employ people with those degrees and certifications, based on eight years
of data from prior Illinois students.
“IDES is excited to launch this
tool in partnership with ISBE and ISAC. Academic and career decisions made
after high school are some of the most important choices and investments young
adults can make, and often impact the rest of their lives,” said IDES Acting Director Kristin
Richards. “Having a resource like High School 2 Career will
provide students with the information they need to make the right decisions for
their futures.”
