Positive Vibes

Good evening Raider Fam! I am constantly looking for simple ways to encourage others. I know each day presents different challenges so it is important we partner in making those days more manageable. So, if you are enduring some negative thoughts, or you are experiencing a rough situation, stop by my office and grab one of the positive post it notes off my chalkboard (see attached photo for the location in my office). Although negative events are bound to happen, we are in control in how we engage with them. This is a simple way to avoid making a bad moment into a bad day!

Seniors- Parchment Registration

Parchment Exchange is the leading transcript exchange & intelligence platform for high schools (and colleges). The most efficient K-12 and postsecondary institutions use the Parchment Exchange platform to eliminate paper-based fulfillment costs, create revenue opportunities, and improve student services. Parchment sends transcripts to receiving institutions when schools approve the order and upload the transcript records to Parchment. Parchment notifies the student, via email, as soon as the school has made the student's records available to Parchment. Parchment sends the electronic transcript immediately.

You received an email in your google account in regards to registration. You will find your registration code as well. Please do not use your school email account. You will  need to register with your personal email account. Ms. Lee will be stopping by study halls next week to check on registration status and assist with any questions.

Illinois High School 2 Career Information!!!

The Illinois State Board of Education, in partnership with the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) and the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC), today launched an interactive online career exploration tool to help high school students make informed decisions about life after high school. Illinois High School 2 Career empowers students to explore an array of degrees and certifications, salaries, job stability, and the industries that employ people with those degrees and certifications, based on eight years of data from prior Illinois students.

“IDES is excited to launch this tool in partnership with ISBE and ISAC. Academic and career decisions made after high school are some of the most important choices and investments young adults can make, and often impact the rest of their lives,” said IDES Acting Director Kristin Richards. “Having a resource like High School 2 Career will provide students with the information they need to make the right decisions for their futures.”

Schedule Changes

Good afternoon Raider Fam! With the school year quickly approaching, I wanted to remind all students that the last day to change your schedule is August, 20th. Please review your schedule in teacherease and reach out to me for any changes (lee@midwestcentral.org).

School Counselor Introduction

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself =) My name is Angie Lee, and I will be the new school counselor at MCHS. This will be my 8th year as a school counselor. Prior to my role at MCHS, I was at Illinois Valley Central High School. I was the special education counselor; my caseload consisted of all students with IEPS, 504 plans, and the students at their alternative school. I have worked closely with my students and their families to ensure academic success. In addition, I held several small groups and assisted in classroom accommodations and modifications. I loved my role at IVC, but I could not pass up working in this district. I have lived in Manito since 2009. Josh and I have 4 year old boy/girl twins so working in the district would allow me to be more involved in my kids' academic journey. I am grateful for our district and all the opportunities they provide our youth. There is great power in connecting families, schools, and the community. Prior to this role opening, I wanted to invest more in our town and joined the Midwest Central Athletic Booster Club. Currently, I am the acting President, and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with school officials, athletes, and their families. A few tid bits- I have a lot of energy, and I love people. People are a huge part of my purpose in life. I look forward to connecting with each of you! Although it was sad to leave my IVC family, I am extremely excited to build those relationships with you! If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out! I will be at registration this Thursday, August 5th, if you have any concerns with your schedule or just want to say hello =) My official start date is August 9th. See you soon Raider Fam!!
