Since it's October and our priority deadline for freshmen applications is fast-approaching, we wanted to update you on scholarships and grants offered at Illinois State.

Redbird Academic Scholarship

Our Redbird Academic Scholarship is automatically awarded to students with a 3.0+ cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale. We'll be sending scholarship award letters soon—your eligible students will begin receiving their notifications in November!

Presidential and University Scholarships

Both our Presidential Scholarship and University Scholarship are competitive awards. To be eligible, students must apply for admission to the University by our priority deadline of November 1, so encourage your high-achieving students to apply soon—with or without test scores.

Once admitted, eligible applicants will receive an invitation to apply. Presidential and University Scholarship applications are due by the end of the day on December 15.

ISU Access Grant

This year we'll also be continuing our ISU Access Grant program, serving students with the greatest financial need. ISU Access, combined with MAP and Pell funds for which a student is already eligible, may cover tuition, fees, and even some room and board.

Priority is given to students who have submitted their FAFSA by November 15 and who have all their supporting documents in by February 1, so encourage your students to file their FAFSA early!

Hagan Scholarship Foundation- Due December 1st, 2021

See Ms. Lee if you have any questions =)

Description of Scholarship

The Hagan Scholarship will help pay the unmet financial need of the recipient, up to $6,000 each semester for up to 8 consecutive semesters.

  1. The disbursement amount for each semester will be determined by HSF by taking the Total Cost of Attendance for one academic year, including room and board; then deducting the total dollar amount of ALL scholarships, awards, grants, waivers and recipient’s EFC; then dividing by two. Parents are not required to pay the EFC, the EFC is used only to determine the disbursement amount.
  2. The award amount will be adjusted each subsequent academic year to offset the expiration or loss of other scholarships, awards, grants, waivers and changes in the recipient’s EFC.
  3. During the fall semester of the second year of college a $15,000 Schwab Brokerage Account will be established for each scholarship recipient to manage for the ensuing 2.5 years in order to learn how to invest to attain financial security.
  4. During the fall semester of the third year of college each recipient achieving a 3.50 CGPA will be eligible for an all-expense paid Study and Travel Abroad Award, up to $8,000.
  5. During the fall semester of the fourth year of college after establishing a personal Schwab Brokerage Account each recipient will receive $2,000 to be used to start investing to attain financial security.
  6. Each scholarship is renewable for up to seven additional semesters if the recipient fulfills the renewal criteria, attends the mandatory workshops, and fulfills their Schwab Account responsibilities.
  7. There is no limit to the number of credit hours a recipient can earn during the term of their scholarship. Recipients graduating college in less than four years can use the remainder of their Hagan Scholarship to attend graduate school or a professional school.
  8. Second and Fourth-Year Recipients must attend a free mandatory workshop prior to the start of the academic year of college; travel and lodging costs are paid by HSF.
  9. Each recipient must contribute toward the cost of their education by working 240 hours during the twelve months prior to the start of each academic year of college and provide proof of employment.

Recipients of a scholarship will be selected on an objective and non-discriminatory basis, regardless of applicant’s race, creed, color, sexual orientation, religion, disability or sex.

Decisions made by HSF are final and not subject to appeal. Terms and Conditions are subject to change without notice.

Manito Forest City Rotary Club Scholarship

This year the Manito Forest City Rotary plans to award at least five scholarships that are worth $500 each. One of these scholarships may be reserved for an Interact member. Our hope is to give away more than five scholarships. Often, we have additional scholarship funding provided by members, past members or other activities that Rotary members support.

Here are the steps you will need to take to qualify for a Rotary scholarship:

Apply for the scholarship! The scholarship is awarded based upon your application and judged by a committee of Rotary members. The application is judged anonymously as all names are removed from the applications before the committee begins the selection process.

Turn your application into Ms. Lee before the end of the day on April 19, 2022. Spring break is April 11 – 15. Ms. Lee has applications in her office!

Make a reservation with Mr. Coers to attend a meeting of the Rotary Club. Reservations can be made in person, by email (lynncoers@yahoo.com) or phone (Cell phone 309-840- 0420). You are invited to attend a club meeting anytime through April 19, 2022. The Rotary Club meetings all start at 6 P.M. and are held on the first and third Tuesdays of the month.

The meeting will be held at Hawk’s Grove Inn in the back room. You must make your reservation no later than the previous Friday.

A meal will be provided for you.

Following the meal, give a short presentation. The presentation should include your college and career plans, your activities in school and the community and little information about your family. These presentations are short, rarely lasting more than five minutes. You are free to leave after your presentation.

We prefer the maximum number of students allowed per meeting to be three, so plan ahead. The Rotary meeting attendance and presentation is a requirement to qualify for the scholarship.
